This happens when it's getting ready to add a page. I go to the page showing before the last one when this happens and find that although it showed 3 pages in the main page, when you go to the thread there are only 2 pages, and your comment becomes the top of the next page. It took me a while to figure this out.
It's why I never click on "last post" anymore.
