Really just goes to show how written material has been used over the millenia to exploit people with no time to think or question or make thier own minds up. The quote could have been written using The Lord of The Rings - or Dianetics - or a biology textbook!
Good thread. I've been feeling somewhat uneasy about the B.Obama thing. Seems to be making the right sounds though. (hype? Media?)
All we can do is wait - isn't it? I'm actually more concerned that the kind of activity that created the 'World Economic Crisis' will not be permanently nipped in the bud. Bonus payouts and all. Laws and contracts allowing this sort of blatant theft of trillions of dollars - that just seem to just plain disappear into thin air. Complex problems. I have a theory that the majority of christians around the world do not follow the ten caommandments (i.e. Thou shalt not kill (even animals, for food!)) They quote far too much from the New Testamant and rely too much on what other people tell them, instead of actually living and observing what actually happens. Hypnotism? cheers Norslyman

Actually the Original Commandment reads;"Thou Shalt Not Murder!"
Conrad73: Actually the Original Commandment reads;"Thou Shalt Not Murder!"
Which 'original' commandments are you privvy to Conrad - or, which 'original' commandments, from anywhere, does anyone know, actually ever existed? After all, we are talking about translations of translations of local dialects and languages that no longer exist. And then relying on scholars (read obsessives without a life), who do nothing but pick apart sentences in long dead languages. 'Murder', 'Kill'; does it really matter, in the scheme of things whether the hair splitting of these things is right or wrong. The message is definitely getting lost in people's humble, but, uninformed translations. In the current, translation, of 'murder', 'Kill' - whatever...who can say what the original writer meant?! Or, is there need for a philosophical discussion of whether an animal can be 'murdered'??? cheers
