I am glad you had such a great night. i would really love to go on a cruise to the islands on the big P&O ships. I assume you are talking about Port Phillip Bay?? I did a few cruises in the mid 60s, some on minesweepers, One on a destroyer, one on a boom defence vessel and one on a water lighter that was being used as a dive boat. We had no onboard entertainment. If you were meaning Westernport Bay, I often cruised that in a navy 14ft sailing dinghy in 1964, that was always fun, we used to go over to Cowes on Phillip Island.

Or is that not quite what you meant CGD?

Don't know about that Ralf, I did a tropical cruise on a 19000ton ship in 1965. Bloody thing was painted in such a dreary decor. The outside was all grey and the interior all a sort of off white. We had about 1100 on board and it was just plain crowded. As for partying, They expected us to work all day, and then stand a 4 hour watch during the night. P&O may be different of course, I sailed with the Grey Funnel Line. I have no doubt that Taking a riskagain could also give you some insights on the practice of sea cruises. LOLcheers

Of course it probably did not help that our destination was South Vietnam and 500 of the people were soldiers.
