This tastes fantastic, but I've never had 'real' lassi, so I don't know how close it is.
You can substitute banana or strawberries for the mango, or pretty much any fruit you fancy. You could even add some raw cocoa powder. Ingredients:
- 1 ripe mango, peeled and destoned - 1 generous ts probiotic cheese, or to taste - water - ground cardamon to taste - raw agave syrup to taste (optional - I don't think it needs it) Preparation:
Blend everything together! Start with a small amount of water, & keep adding it until it's as liquid as you want it to be.
NB. When I make the cream cheese, I only use 1 cup of macadamia nuts (or occasionally sunflower seeds or cashews), enough water to just cover them, and the contents of just one capsule of probiotic powder.
I have to add this one for the probiotic cheese mentioned:
Servings: Makes 4 c
This cream cheese actually tastes like cream cheese, feels like it, and looks like it. The secret is in the probiotics. Use it for awesome cream cheese, or serve with Bagels and Lox (see my other recipes). Ingredients:
4 cup Macadamia Nuts water to cover ¼ cup probiotic powder, any brand Preparation:
Place mac nuts in blender. Cover with juuuuuuuust enough water to come up to level with the nuts. Add the probiotic powder. Whir in the blender until absolutely smooth (this may take about 10 minutes, so make sure your blender doesn’t get too hot). THe consistency should be like cold cream.
Place in a mesh bag/cloth napkin and Twist until the bag is sealed. Place in a collander and put a weight on the top (I use a plate with a can of something) and put in a very warm place (Like your dehydrator or the radiator) for at up to 48 hours. Refrigerate.
Note: Depending on your taste, you may want to use less probiotic or ferment for less time. Our house is only about 60 degrees F, so it takes 48 hours to taste right.
Also please note: This fermented cream can be used as the starter in place of the probiotic for your next batch. I’d use fresh every 6 batches or so.
I felt deficient in "Vitamin Orange" so I made this. Ingredients:
1 cup of water (if you want sweeter add apple juice instead) 1/2 small banana 3 whole guavas cut up 2 Tbsp lucuma powder (Navitas brand) (you may substitute fresh lucuma if it grows near you.) 1/4 large ripe papaya 1/2 tsp ground flax seed 1/2 tsp cinnamon Preparation:
Blend everything together until creamy and smooth.
If you haven't tried green smoothies yet, they are Ace - super-nutricious, tasty and quite addictive when you get used to them... Although they have the 'scary' color of green leaves, the flavour is more from the fruit side of ingredients. Green juice can taste bitter and quite horrible, but green smoothies are yummy! Just try it out and see... Ingredients:
1 - 1.5 C fruit/berries (include 1 banana or 1/4 avocado for creaminess) Large handful of greens (e.g. spinach, kale, lettuce...) If it's not sweet enough, add some agave or soaked dried fruit. Approx 1/2 C ice cubes Approx 1/2 C water, or as needed Preparation:
Ideally, the amount of greens should be about the same than fruit, but if you're new to green smoothies, you can start with less greens. The other fruit can be any you like, mango, orange, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, grapes (go especially well with avocado) etc. Red grapefruit and blue-green algae make a great breakfast smoothie if you like grapefruit... Add more water depending on how juicy the fruit is and what consistency you like. Instead of , or in addition to ice cubes, you can freeze some of the fruit, e.g. peeled banana, pineapple, mango, berries work well. Cut up the larger fruit up before freezing so your blender will cope better. If your blender is not super-strong, you could use crushed ice instead of ice cubes, or smaller frozen berries, like blueberries.
Blend everything until super smooth, adding water or juicier fruits for the kind of smoothie consistency you like.
Pour into tall regular or frozen plastic glass and enjoy!
I saw a recipe similiar so I decided to post my version. I have been make for a long time its like a dessert to me and its very satisfying If you like any of these ingredients you will love it. Ingredients:
1 banana 1 cup young coconut water with or without pulp 4 to 5 almonds soaked 1-2 heaping tablespoons of almond butter 1 tablespoon cacao powder 1 square raw chocolate or a couple nibs *agave syrup if desired (I think its sweet on its own if you get a ripe banana) few cubes of ice Preparation:
mix it all together in a blender until desired consistency. I like mine thin but you can add more ice if you want the normal thick smoothie. Sometimes I also eat it with a spoon dipped in almond butter (lightly coated) for extra almond yumminess. Enjoy!
Servings: up to 2 quarts, depending on desired thickness
This savory smoothie or soup is VERY warming and REALLY high in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power! Plus, it boasts a lot of taste complexity and it was quick and easy to make. I didn't take a picture because - guess what? It looks like a green smoothie! Ingredients:
1 medium avocado 2 big handfuls greens (I used baby lettuces) 2 celery stalks, chopped juice of 1 medium lemon 1/2 finger of ginger, peeled and chopped 1/2 tsp. curry powder 1/8 tsp. Asafoetida 1/8 tsp. turmeric pinch of cayenne salt (optional) water to desired thickness and temperature Preparation:
Put everything in a blender and whiz away. Adjust seasonings to taste. If you want to consume this as a soup, you could garnish it with chopped or shredded veges, or seeds such as pumpkin, sunflower and sesame.
This is a rich and creamy smoothie. Enjoy! Note that we recommend that you avoid commercially frozen mango as it is often blanched before freezing to increase shelf-life. Blanching destroys many of the mango's valuable nutrients!
A fresh yummy treat that tastes pretty close to the real thing :o) Ingredients:
Water from a young coconut 1 cup frozen Strawberries A few squeezes from a lime (not too much, I sometimes don't use any and it's still good) Preparation:
Get into your young coconut however you know best and drain the water into your blender, add the strawberries and lime and blend till it is like a frozen strawberry daiquiri consistency.

Thanks for sharing this Tip, Dru, I was going to suggest it myself.
