PeachesandRay: It's been almost two weeks since I have had a cigarette. It's been hard but hopefully this time I will make it.
What has helped is the cost of a pack going up. When I left NH, they were up to $5.90 a pack. Down here they are just over $5.00 a pack.
I switched to having one or two cigars a day which help quite a bit in the need to have something in my hands and the need for nicotine has diminished as well.
With time, we shall see

Earl

p.s. Shelia is happy with the idea of my quitting cigarettes

................thumbs up thumbs up ...Well Done....keep it up...

I don't smoke very many cigarettes anymore. Instead, I smoke generic "little cigars". These are like the Winchester brand. Little cigars are almost like cigarettes, for a fraction of the cost. I have been working on giving up smoking. Congratulations to everyone who successfully quits smoking.

roseofsharon: Mmmmm..... and what would they be then, my friend?

There is always pot... you can grow poppies with your tobacco and spike it with opium... but I heard that smoking toad skins will make you see things, so maybe you can add that too.banana

I've never smoked, and hate being around smoking people... don't hate the people, just don't like the smoke. My mom is 64, and has smoked for a long time. She's trying to cut back... I'm hoping she can quit someday soon. Earl and those here who have quit... a RIGHT ON to you. I know the price is ridiculous, but do it for your health. I give you folks all kudos and props and congrats... keep it up! head banger
