That's simple.
They don't wont to associate with us because:
1. They know us very well so that they don't intend to waste their time on creatures like us,
2. They have their own world and their own problems so that they have no time for idiots like us.
Maybe there is a third reason but I am not ghost ( jet) so I can't tell you.
I think I have aghost in my house Gilly... 
Maybe all these "people" are not realy people? Maybe some of them are angels?.... or something else?
