Are there really educated and "uneducated" accents?

Well as Tommy Tiernan puts it, my accent sounds like a tinker trying to speak French!
I don't think accents have anything to do with intelligence. I've heard people I've worked with speak with more refined accents and they aren't any smarter or better educated than I. From what I know at least!
I'm no intellectual but I wouldn't say because I speak a certain way that I'm uneducated or ignorant.
Where did the idea for this thread come from?

nope, but there are percieved intelligence/educated accents. well i suppose th eidea is that a 'posh' acent means poss went to college more likely than 'common' accent thus perceived intelligence but as we all know by now intelligence is soemthign yoru born with - its a curiosity and the energy to find out what you want to know. education = lessons that may or may not be learnt.wine
