Each minute of each day both the mind and emotions can control our lives. If we are normal we swing from one to the other on a regular basics.
A college profession of mine once said: If you are sad all the time, the men in little white coats will come take you away. If you are happy all the time, the men in little white coats will come take you away. The object of life is to swing between being happy sometimes; sad sometimes; and, just inbetween sometimes. Then the guys in the little white coats won't be around! That is my 2 cents worth of philosophy on this Sunday.
sanky: The world is tragedy to those who feel but comedy to those who think....so does it means mind always has knack of beating feelings
I think the mind can overcome feelings actually. Most people don't realize it because it takes practice, but each of us can learn to control our thoughts. We don't have to live each day a prisoner of our thoughts.
You know: mind over matter, type of thing. If you have painful thought, and you have recognized it and given it due consideration, and don't want to dwell on it anymore, then just work to think of other things. Think of things you enjoy or that bring you peace.
People also start a task or a project to "get their mind off something" or "keep their mind occupied". And when the painful or unwanted thought crosses your mind, just eliminate it each time by thinking of something you want to.
So yes, the mind can beat the feelings if you work on it and practice that.
As far as a tradgedy or comedy goes, how about this: "Life may not be fun, but it can be funny......"

Ah yes - striking the balance is the crux of this matter! Easier said than done...

Howdy BJ!
Okay 2 more cents: Don't get too, too high when times are good and don't get down too, too far when things go bad. Allow yourself to be happy and allow yourself sadness; just don't hang around those two ends very long.

Hi Apostophe
Shucks John - you've got me grinning - I'm a self confessed Maniac Depressive (yes - here on the threads) and in my real life.
I have been in the highest of heavens and i have been in the lowest of hells - I don't fancy placid lakes - but i'm in control of my emotions mostly - well as far as not allowing it to spoil my relationships in my everyday life.

These are some attributes that we don't see listed too often in profiles and written in the Threads. Two people have to be compatible in their emotion balance for the relationship to work. If one of the two is too calm; or if one has huge mood swings; the couple is doom to failure in my opinion. Of course some people can get along with almost anybody. We all hate these people, don't we?
