My first name - Jodie is derived from Judith which is hebrew for 'Woman of Judea'. My kids names I put a lot of thought into. I did not want any religious names, names of people we knew, all had to have different initials and something unique. Aidan is Irish and means 'little fiery one', Rhydian is Welsh and means 'dweller by the ford' and Braith is Welsh also and means 'speckled'. We were going to call the youngest Oran which means skinny white man (which would suit him perfectly) but everyone else hated it. Aidan isn't really unique anymore, there was 5 of them at kinder!! 
My name Steven is a medieval derision of Stephen it means crown and leader
