Gerry and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Gerry suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.

Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Gerry out.

When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is you're being discharged; since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another patient, I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.

The bad news is, Gery, the patient you saved, hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him.

I am so sorry, but he's dead.'

Edna replied, 'He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry.

How soon can I go home?'

Sorry dude, but in my opinion jokes about metal health and or suicide are not cool. I'm sure others may find it funny but I have to say I thought it was in poor taste. JMO.dunno

chuckles25: well apologies scribbler i never intended it to go that far,

imsorry, i really am

Ah don't be silly. I only just realised that my reply made it sound like I was getting narky with you, which I wasn't. Just pointing out how I felt about it.

In truth we all laugh at jokes we shouldn't but they have to be delivered perfectly to get away with it. In my opinion you can't pull that off on an internet forum.

I can empathise with you scribbler83, there are times when jokes like these cut too close. I've reacted similarly to you on a previous occasion and was ridiculed for it, did hurt at the time but that was because of the state of mind at the time. I have a dark sense of humour (as on the Wacko Jokes thread) though and love 'edgy' jokes. I usually am contributing to and laughing at these types of jokes so I can't really claim any consistency or moral high ground :)

Yeah I suppose we all laugh at edgy jokes, it is only the ones that are particularly close to the bone for us that we notice. So you can't really condemn people on that basis.
