bourbon: My earlier post, in which I said something about the guy getting 18yrs of child support payments, was a tongue-in-cheek post.

I'm sure that some people in this site suffer from Semantic-Pragmatic Disorder.

All woman are beautiful in their own way, even the ones
we leave behind, everyone has flaws ,male and female from
all nations on this planet. To find a partner even with a few flaws that mesh nicely with your own is the the one that we
all stride to find!

People have to realise marriage is a committment. You have to work at it and sometimes you both fail.

I like the quote from the "Kenny movie" "Next time I going to meet someone I hate, give them a house and a car and cut out the middle man"laugh

....A very valid point you have made on 'Commitment'.....My Grand parents Marriages weren't made heaven...far from it,but I will give them both credit here.....they all compromised and made there Marriages work, and the reason....Why..???...for the sake of the Children....and bless my Grandparents they were the best 'guidance' that ever happen to me,and I miss them dearly.....

bourbon: Are you all treating J.D. fairly? I mean is he actually attacking women for being women, or is he attacking the system which favours women and to some degree alienates men?

I don't know how dire the situation is in New Zealand, but I certainly wouldn't want to be a male teacher in Australia.

he is attacking women while he is rabbiting on about the system

melty1: Just one point I will raise. If men have share custody of children then they pay less child maintenance. If they dont bother with their kids. Then they should pay the lot. After all it takes two to tango. Children need fathers its not always about the money.

I share the custody of my kids 50% and I have to pay child support cos my ex hasnt worked for 5 yrs

the child support system is a friggen waste of space and an totally unfair system for everybody.. but most of all the working and/or non custodial parent frustrated

or maybe its just a case of not being able to express everything you want to express in one post so by focussing on one aspect of something they at least get one thing they believe or feel strongly about heard and understood cool

There is only one funny thing I have heard about what you are mentioning Blonde & that is all the fathers who havent been paying child support, a lot got caught because they had to lodge tax forms to receive the $900.00 stimulus payments, so their greed to get more moeny was their eventual down fall. But they did say it was a drop in the ocean & it is something like 965 million dollars owed in child support payments that hasnt been paid.

the tax system gets them everytime laugh

they can run but they cannot hide... once they do their tax.. and if they qualify for a refund.. they lose a percentage of it to the child support agency

fact... changes needed to the child support system to make it a fairer system is the ONLY thing ALL political parties agree on

it's not only deadbeat fathers that avoid paying maintenance,
for 10 years sole custody of my son, i received $5 a week from his mother. that went as a canteen lunch for him at school woohoo

I suspect that you'd be singing a different tune if your ex was working and you were receiving money instead of paying it out.

sorry to hear that psuedo. I do wish they can fix up the system so that those that have to pay do & dont get away with it, I also apologise if it came across one sided handshake

You can't "not work" anymore... they changed the system. Once a woman's kids reach a certain age, they make them look for a certain amount of hours work every week... can't remember the number now, but I have a female friend who just had another kid to get out of that requirement. laugh
