There is always a degree of judgement on a person, when applying for jobs, relating to the position. I mean I would not want a person working for me in my reception who was smelly, limp, unattractive and was not promoting my business in the right way.
I would not want my children taught in school by a person who had no self control over the way they looked. We all have mirrors, we can make ourselves look good, I don't care how big, small, fat, thin, a person is.
I think this whole business of plastic surgery is daft, but I do believe that there are and what you say is correct, that people do go and judge from looks.
I can look as plain as plain can be to the outside world, if I choose to be, somedays I do. I stick on a cap and want to stroll down the street, being unnoticed, but then there are days, where I want to feel satisfied and look in the mirror and walk out with an air of confidence and have some guy in a truck toot his horn, nothing in it, it gives me a spring in my step.
I dress in a suit everyday for work because I am promoting a dress code at our school, which is strict, so if I rock up in casual clothing then I am defeating what we are trying to acheive in that sense, teaching aside.
My father always has immaculately polished shoes, very well manicured hands, and perfect teeth, he has always drummed that into me, because people do notice and people do comment, a suit on a man can look glorious, but add a pair of scuffed shoes, a worn cuff, unkempt hair, bad breath and badly bitten fingernails, it's a right turnoff.
Put a man in the woods with jack boots on, torn trousers, muck under his nails, hair all a mess, he can still look gorgeous, but the fundamental basics of hygiene, keeping oneself in a tidy manner is not difficult to acheive and it does not have to cost much money...
Cris mentioned Marilyn Monroe, I agree with Smoky, that she was beautiful because she could be, beauty is always what a person perceives it to be, I have recently looked into the most beautiful eyes that I have ever looked into, but pass him in the street and it would be hard for any other person to see what I see.
And I happen to think that Neil Kinnock was far more attractive than John Major, who was grey, insipid, uncharismatic.
He limped around looking like he was dressed in his big brother's suit. Awful presence that man had.
Bill Clinton had charisma, still does, that man had presence and was indeed charming.
I had this thing years ago for Jimmy Nail, I found him so attractive in my 20's, my ex husband nearly had me certified...
Sommer, can you divide this post in chapters please?
Yeah, to some professions, the appeatance is paramount but then the final judgment depends on the eyes of the boss.
