I am sure that you have received good advices by now, especially from summers. She is a good person with good advices.
However, if you allow me to add my humble advice as a guideline:
First; prepare for each class using each course syllabus by reading the material intended to be lectured at each class. If you didn’t understand something during your readings, that is good, just write the question to be asked during the lecture. Don’t spend time to answer it during your readings. You read to be familiar with the subject of the lecture not to understand it. Class time is the time to understand.
Second; make notes during lecture and remember to ask the questions you wrote during your readings. Don’t be keen in taking notes more than understanding the lecture.
Third; do your homework on the same day it was given not the day before submitting them. It is much easier and part of your revision to do the homework in the same day.
Fourth, on your preparation to the next class, your previous class notes, completed homework and course material using the syllabus are your resources for preparation. Always be prepared.
If you do manage to do the above steps, I guaranty you that you will have plenty of time to review and be prepared at the night before final exam or any exam for that matter, especially pop quizzes.
Good luck and you will need small and simple luck if you follow the above
