wyowilly: Thanks!! He's been a good ol' stud. All but kid proof too.
I'm sure it was the May West. The reason why I rtemember is I ended up at Fort Campbell, KY., 101st Airborne. A Maywest is when a riser cord goes over your parachute canopy and forms two big bulges. Thus the canopy looks like May West's chest. I know it was down around there somewhere. I was think'n north of Elpaso. Might be wrong tho. I was all over southern Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. I had a good time!!
Well, most stallions aren't what I'd call "kid horses". Sure, some of 'em are plenty gentle, but I'd never trust them to be alone with a kid on their back. Your stud sounds like one heck of a great fellow.
Mae West- I learn something new everyday! Thank you!
Boy, if that ranch was around, I'm sure I would have heard of it. I traversed a lot of New Mexico, Arizona and Texas as a kid.
mike69spain: I wish I had a picture with me on a Quarter in Aussie leather riding pants complete with hat and a lasso... Haven't got one though
I know I look good - here we have the Andalusians instead, not much breaking power there, but agile.
Not many calves around here either, Goat and Capricorn only...
I have Quarter Horse bloodlined Paint Horses. Have an Aussie saddle too. It's wonderful for when riding fence and checking on the cattle.
I'm sure you'd like right fine.
The Andalusians are beautiful horses. Very fiery and agile, but you're right- they have no braking power whatsoever. While you may not have many calves around there, you do have fighting bulls and wine.

Hey sis, This was back in the summer of 73. Now ya got me think'n I'm lose'n my mind. I use to shoot jack rabbits and I called a lot of coyotes in that summer. I remember folks tell'n me to not get caught on the Maywest Ranch also. Trespass'n wise. I'm think'n the land was just a small part of the main ranch. If you hear anything let me know OK!! I'm to young to go senile!!
