trish123: Give him a good send off hey Gilly, celebrate his life
thanks trish .....welcome to the thread !
boy there was a and still is a lot of politics behind this one
he was an alcoholic ..and thats what killed him age 47 he left behind a beautifull wife and child
the guy the family banned from the funeral was a fellow allcoholic ..about about 15 years younger who he spent a lot of time drinking with before he went into hospital
i'm going to the grave with my friends sister this weekend ...
but decided to try and have the wake with the guy they banned from the funeral
The worst thing that happened to me was at my grandfathers funeral. Our family is "different" as we tend to laugh even when things are bad. (Example, I thought my great aunt was crying ver hard during the funeral and she was laughing into her handkerchief....she has a nervous reaction to sad things and will laugh) ...andway, Mom and I went into the restroom in the vestibule and when we went for the door to get out, we ran into each other and I went flying into the wall. We started laughing so hard and had made a lot of noise. Then we opened the door there were a lot of people standing there staring at the door giving us dirty looks. We slunk into the chapel.
I've been thinking of scattering my husband's ashes on his grandparents grave in Oklahoma. It's hard to bring myself to do it, but he said he didn't want to be cooped up in a grave after he died so I think that it's about time.

Hi Gilly, hope your day was the way you and your friends wanted for your loved one.
I hate funerals personally. My own Mother's was dreadful as my stepfather had total control and my Mother's family were never mentioned. It was very sad for my daughter to see her grandmother buried with such hatred for the family.
I like to think that I can pay my respects any way I choose without the necessity of attending the service.I like to light a candle in a Church and remember loved ones in my own way.Or throw a flower into the sea. There are many ways of dealing with death in a positive way.
Just tonight my neighbour's wife passed away very suddenly and as Catholics in Spain I have to respect the way they deal with her passing.Toni will be interred within a couple of days.Such a shock.
gillyloves69: you're wrong big_john ....nobody should stop anybody going to a funeral
Well Gilly we will agree to disagree on this one. Griefing is up to each person to handle. Funeral are up to the family and whoever pays for it. Whoever put the check in the funeral homes hands get to decide how, what, where and whom attends.

do you live in spain ?
My Mother had money, and my stepfather systematically destroyed her relationships with her children for his own greed. Mum was 13 years older than him so at 89 he could manipulate her.Sad but true.
He has passed now and all my family mementos are with strangers as he had no family.Again very sad.It was never about money as we are all ok but the photos etc, that's my heritage that has been taken away.
I have lived in Spain for 7 years and have just sold my property and moving bck to Bournemouth on the 25th October God willing.Am really looking forward to the rest of my life with family and friends.
