I was in Killarney for the weekend. I had a great time there, but there is one thing I noticed last night when I was out. There was this drop dead stunning blonde, fantastic body, great face, total package looks wise. However, what I was less impressed with was how she rudely pushed her way through me and anyone else on the dancefloor that didn't interest her. She really seemed to have no personality whatsoever. It got me to thinking, are good looks just wasted on some people? What good is it being attractive if you don't have the personality to match?

when I am faced with that sort of situation I often wish I had the power to turn the person "inside out" for a day show the world their ugly side for a change! I detest rudeness in every form!

A lot of people think you don't need a good personality if you are drop dead gorgeous...and they are probably right. A recent study has shown that really attractive people have to work way less than us normal folk for what they want outa life.

Maybe, but cream always rises to the top and eventually those who are just downright horrible will be found out. Now to be fair, I don't know this girl, I just found her rude, I'm just thinking generically. Another girl was pushing everyone out of the way too and it's just a pet peeve of mine. I have bad balance, which some times results in me accidentally stepping on someones foot, etc, but I will always say sorry, or say sorry or excuse me if I have to get past someone. What does it cost to have manners?

I totally agree but they have breezed through life without having to learn its nice to be nice. Sad but true.

Was out last night in Waterford City and noticed similar.
Quite young (late teens/early 20's) girls in gangs... didn't matter who you were or whether you were 10 stone heavier/three foot taller than them they'll push through to the bar/toilet/smoking area, wherever they happen to fancy at that moment. Not a single utterance of manners.

Yeah, both these girls were in that age group too. Happens in fellas too of course. maybe it's a side effect of the 'Celtic Tiger' we had in this country up until recently. Very unappealing quality.

Hiya Do you not think that bad manners has more to do with upbringing? I know people have been spoiled with the celtic tiger and all that but surely if they had been taught manners it should have stayed with them

I think it does have something to do with upbringing but there are a lot of people out there that are so nice to family and friends but so rude to strangers. I can't imagine these people acting like that at a family party or get together but among strangers they think its OK.

Could it have just been the exuberance of youth? young people out to have a good time and enjoy themselves and not knowing the social rules that we learn from experience.
Very true Keeneland. What was very striking was that one of these girls had a boyfriedn and was all lovey dovey with him, but pushing though everyone else.

I'm 26 Stanley and would never have behaved like that. It is I think possibly a generational thing but there are a lot of people our age who would never behave like that.

Whatever the reason, there is no excuse for arrogance and rudeness.
