Two different issue here really, the age thing and starting of a relationship with a lie. I could get over the age thing faster than I would the lie.

I must add though that yes at only 21 I think 19 years is to big a gap, if I could be a guys Mother its a no no.
As we get older it matters less.

I have stated in a previous post that at her age I thought it was to big a gap, then the op said that his friend liked the guy and didnt see the age gap as being a problem. My point then was that if she didnt see it as a problen she shouldnt have lied.

Noted, caps off. No he hadnt a clue as far as i know. Well she does look older than 21 to be honest so i can see how he might have thought she was 32. Personally i dont think age difference is a big thing but maybe 19 years might be a lot to some ppl

I dont think that was the reason. i think he kind of felt betrayed that she lied to him from the start and also that she was too young to be with someone his age. I think lies can kill any relationship cos the trust is gone then. Yeah they had a baby he only found out her true age when they were goin gettin the kid christened
Yeah thats a very good point. From what she says she still loves him and still wants to be with him but on the other hand he feels that if she lied about that what else would she lie about. Yeah they were gettin on well up to that point. I think he was also mad that she kept it from him for so long. But i agree with u compared with say been cheated on it doesnt seem like somethin that is a breaking up issue especially with a baby involved.

How could someone not tell a 21 year old from a 32 year old?
In answer to your question it can work but it is rare. I know a couple where the age gap is the same as in your story and they are very happy.

Depends ont the people involved. But personnally i wouldnt be with someone so much older. A friend of mine has been dating a 38 year old and she is only 21. I found that strange, even if she like older blokes, this fella had baggage and i taught why bother like!
I really think he must have know something there is no way somebody can not notice that she was 11 years younger than what she was... Did he not meet her family/friends/work mates I think somewhere along the lines somebody is lying and it's not only her about her age. .

Im with you Rob if he really loved her, he would get over it ok she lied but its not like she had an affair or anything, it was because she wanted to be with him, now i wud be surprised to hear he's never told a lie (all in a good cause ) himself! ....and dont forget there is a child involved and if he cant get over it even for the sake of his child well maybe she is better off!!! jmo Cause i really believe there is more to this than he is admitting therefor he isnt been exactly honest himself
