Hi Mary. Happy New Year to you..

Personally, I would recommend "The Kite Runner". Its a bit dark but nothing worse than you might have read before and once you are prepared that its not a comedy read, you should enjoy it. Well, I think so anyway.

Dont knock the prozac til you tried it rolling on the floor laughing

Am not a literary snob mumbling I have never read Jeffrey Deaver and I did get bored with Patricia Cornwell but I love Tess Gerritsen. In fact, I am reading one of her books at the moment called "Girl Missing" and have another one waiting in the wings.

Whats the name of the book by David Baldacci? Would you recommend it?

"First Family" is the David Baldacci book, I enjoyed it. It is hard to find books of this kind that are original.
Yeah I have kind of outgrown Patricia Cornwell but then again that is probably because I have read all of her books pretty much by now and I think when you do that the writing does become a bit predictable. I still like Jeffrey Deaver but again have read all of his books or almost all, still have one unread that I bought in New York recently.
Have you read "The Kitchen Gods Wife" by Amy Tan?I have it here also.
"Wild Swans" was also a great book,I thought.wave
I find sometimes though that when I read a book that is based in a particular era my ignorance of history is so apparentblushing blushing
