robpacciani: Hey folks, i have applied to GMIT today, applied for 5 courses, Culinary Arts, Business in Culinary Arts, Bar Management, Hotel and Catering Management and Customer and Retail Management. I havent the foggiest about the procedures of applying for a grant, I dont even know if i would be entitled to one, I am 22, I am not a mature student but i am out of work for over a year now. If anyone could help it would be great, Cheers..
Hey ya, i no one of the other girls was saying that if it was a level 6 or 7, its your vec u apply too and level 8 your county council, however im doing a level which is a degree programme..level 6 or 7 is generally a cert or diploma programme...i get the full grant which is 1,140 euro in three instalments in a college year...but as mentioned earlier it is means tested and you may not get the full grant, as mentioned earlier it also depends if you were in college before..i know if you previously completed a degree programme you have to pay full fee's...if you want to just ring the vec for advise and an applicarion form, there number is 091-874260...there based in athenry in galway!!good luck..

thanks very much, i have applied for 1 level 8 course and 4 level 6/7 courses. it will depend on which one i get.

oh ya and sometimes your parents are means tested, your best to get the form and you'll figure out from that what u need!
