why is it that a number of friends i know and have spoken to are up in arms over the irish government sending a paltry 2 million euro in aid to a country .....that is the poorest in western europe and has just been obliterated by an earhquake .....why are irish people so begrudging ........
yea some of my mates are out of work etc but they still have homes and their health
..they dont seem to be able to comprehend that fact .... plus if the eu HAD not helped ireland out where would we be now .. in a
much worse state than we are now .......
synopis ;ireland as a country in general is a nation of begrudgers in my opinion
express yours..........

I see this catastrophe and I say isn`t that awful but really I dont care because Its not directly affecting me, i still have my house and nobody i know has been killed so why should I????
That might be heartless but a lot of people are like that, Its a dog eat dog world and with the way things are in this country its every man for himself and do I think we should be giving 2 million in aid??? No because we have our own problems in this country, thats not to say we shouldnt give some sort of aidconversing

sorry dude but that is a cruel thing to say. There is 50,000 dead and more to come, there is a breakout of cholera and aids now because of all the dead bodies, there is 3 million out of homes. in the scheme of things, 2 million is pennies, i actually think they could have contributed more, and should have.. They are digging up the footpaths just so they can bury bodies for space, it is sick. Among the dead are a lot of europeans, asians, south americans, americans, australians etc... And lets face it, the world is changing by the year, dont be surprised if you see a natural disaster hit these shores before we die, and then you might know how it feels to be in Haiti.. But your entitled to your view handshake

Seismologists warned them 2 years ago that there would be a major eruption, Thats not to say they could have prevented it but they should have had a plan in the event of such a disaster, instead they did nothing, no plan= lots of dead people, They are a poor country with most of the inhabitants living on less than a 1 us dollar a day, They lie on fault, the western half of California lies on a fault, if they were warned of quake they would have an emergency plan in place because they have money, so maybe I`m going back on what i said they deserve aid of course they do, The nearest fault to Ireland is thousands of miles away so were not gonna have any quakes here and if we ever do I`ll be long dead and withered awaygrin

Just because they were warned, it would not have made a difference, the earthquake hit unexpected, what are you supposed to do, tell everyone to stay on the streets of Haiti until an earthquake hits? tell everybody to stop working? tell everyone to stop going on holiday there? nature is a powerful and destructful thing. And how are you to know nothing will ever happen to Ireland??? Rising sea levels, world is changing and there is a dormant plate as far as im aware about 400 miles off the coast of morocco.. If that erupted, it would cause devastation around western africa and europe

I`m saying they should have had a plan of action in place in the event of such a disaster and there are ways of structuring buildings so that they can withstand the tremors of an Earthquake, Pyramididal type building deal with earthquakes, Now you cant tell be to stand in the streets all day etclaugh I know that but why didnt they have buildings that could withstand earthquakes, " years is enough time to sort something out but then again they have very little money so that probably a non runner,
I didnt say Ireland will never suffer from the effects of a disaster like that, I just said we`re not gonna have any quakes, we might get the after effects of it like a tsunami which would wipe us all out, ya I Think we will be flooded by rising sea levels anyway

Exhausted24: What does the EU and the m50 have to do with the Earthquake in Haiti??

What he's saying is without the help of the EU there wouldn't be an M50, meaning we got help so why not give back when others need it..

No your missing the point, we are not entitled to anything, we get it because we give it.. Nothing for nothing in this life..

Realistically look at it if you gave 4€ a month to the donations for Haiti what difference would it really make to your pocket?

Wouldnt make any difference to my pocket at all, cant see how 4 euro a month will help the people there now, The only aid thats getting through at the minute is to the capital Port-au-Prince, the rest of the country is in ruins
