Being a single mother, I was lucky, I had a Daddy that I could call, and he'd give me instructions, he said I had to learn. I had to be able to "Do it myself". And Daddy teaching well, I made sure my daughters learned also, good thing or they'd be stuck....(or would that be me that's stuck going to do it for them) their husbands never seem to get a round to it. Much better off to learn yourself.

Absolutely. I learned by reading books, internet, or just asking my males friends to show me how I can do things for myself. Its a great feeling to be able to do things for yourself and my house looks great with the renos I did.

yes it is and don't get looked at as needy, but I think it cuzed probems in relationships. Men don't like to be showed up, I learned to pretend when I have too.

utilize the services, there are place depending on what you are fixing that will talk you through, depending how bad the problem, sometimes it takes more know how. example...my dryer broke, I called maytag, they talked me right through it, and I learned something new. Some thing for here, I need help some new friends will talk me through.

No, I've always had to manage doing most things myself, though I haven't fixed a radiator. I wouldn't tackle electrics or plumbing either. But I have fixed the loo cistern, made a tongue and groove bath panel, built a garden shed, built and installed an 8ft high garden gate, revamped the garden, laying a patio, laid flooring, repaired the front porch, etc, etc.
Mind you.... I do now have a handyman!!
But exactly just how much gets done....?!!

thats it man or not always seems to be our job if we want it done. I haven't seen where you can get the round-to-it anymore. I have done plenty also, no electric if I want curly hair I'll do a perm. But, washer, dryer, drywall, stove, small appliances, the roof (good thing I got that job awhile back), water lines, and my car if I want anything to work I'll figure it out.
