Both games, Rugby and Grid Iron have their own unique ways, they can tackle without the ball, we can't.
I actually had a mate in the USA that played both games and he found out that he wasn't fit enough to play rugby, but the tackling was more 'expected' when you had the ball, unlike his natural game where they hit you no matter what!

I played Gaelic Football and even played against the Aussies in a compromise version of the game and they hit you no matter what....
I can only imagine from the size of the guys in Grid Iron, that if they hit you, you would certainly feel it no matter what your wearin.

Yup...for sure you'd feel it. Hell, I played scrum half for 20+ years, it hurt me when flankers nobbled me and they were a lot smaller than they are now! I'd never survive in the modern game, unless I was 2 stone heavier!

Tackling without the ball???? Steve one of the finest at this flankers art was a tigers player Neil Back great wing forward small by todays standard but oh so sneaky.
The winner of this Sat match between Engerland and Wales will gain confidence and should do well.
And if Ireland can go to France and win the following weekend, they will have it in their hands........big ask I know.
How many gmes will Scotland and Italy win......1.....2....
Come on Ireland........
Vinny, I been watchin' wee bits of it over here but not followin' to close...Ireland looks pretty strong to me though, maybe i'm wrong..far from an expert on the game...anyway enjoy watching...better than american football.

Hi McCort.......
I remember when American Football started on TV over here and I really liked it. I think it was because it was new and fashionable.. I grew tired of watching it because of the length of the game. I prefer watching Rugby as its always full on and I find the tactics brilliant, and there are so many diff positions that require diff skills.
Your right in sayin Ireland look strong, but they will have their work cut out. I think four teams can win it, Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland, and Ireland are playin two of their three rivals away from home which can play a big factor. I think it will be interesting tho as I think they are all capable of winnin on 'Any Given Saturday'...

I think the Welsh / English game will be so important as whoever wins could win the Championship and winning on Sat will do their confidence the world of good. I take Wales to win a close match.

patmac: GOOGLE Rugby tackles and watch the hits makes Grid Iron look tame.
I love the fact that Ireland play as one team ie north/south, England because they are world cup winners, Wales because they love rugby and sheep, Scotland because my great grandfathers scottish but to answer your question honestly--- france because they beat us and italy because they are the underdogs
