I think that there may be several different reasons that people do not post but just read. Maybe they are afraid of sounding stupid or feeling like they arent accepted when their posts are overlooked. Maybe they really dont have anything to say on the topic when they get into it....who knows...

Why I don't post much, is a lot of times the thread title has nothing to do with the subject. Also, sometimes the thread gets hijacked so by time you read it, the original subject is no longer being discussed. Or else the tone is nasty and I don't want to get pulled down to that level.

a lot of people just simply read the forums, but never post to them.

Well I know I have been guilty of all you have
said. Guess it is human nature to get side tracked
in conversation. People also tend to be very blunt
and out spoken. Some could say it makes a person
look bad. When others would said those people
are boldly honest. Guess more could be said in
private email. But than it becomes more personal
as in one on one. Some people just like to be
silly a joke around. I see no harm in that.
Doesn't mean they are less of a person or nasty.
i love to joke around and not take life so seriously
all the time, Doesn't mean I am not a very nice person
to know. All I am saying is an open mind is one that is
forever learning. Very strong points you made. Thank you

i didnt at first because I was a bit intimidated...it looked
a bit "cliquish" and I think alot of people get that impression
but it didnt take long to get over that....this a very warm
and welcoming community in fact. Ive found so much here. learned
a bit about people, learned ALOT about myself. and Ive learned
that no matter what...someone out there has it worse
now imagine if EVERYONE who has an account posted regularly?
how many accounts do you suppose there are here?
could be chaos.
