Im totally against fur.........or so I thought.

I mean Im totally againt fur, for the sake of fur as in breeding an animal to skin it........but it got me thinking. I enjoy rabbit meat and have no problem eating it......then why would I not wear it? I mean I wear leather.........and thats cow/pig/sheep fur (yes i use fur lightly there) It just dawned on me that Ive a bit of double standards going on, what do you think?

Please note..........this should be a debate!

well its easy to like the meat and forget the fur i mean fair enough to use the fur if its also used for its meat

what bothers me is the fur farms

back years ago there was alot of em which had mink (cant spell the animals name) these were from russia and are very similar to otters well these were simply killed just for there fur and bred in cages i believe

when some went they released em to the wild which caused alot of damage these arent native to ireland have damaged the river eco system there is a few near me

there worse than rats and wouldnt hesitiate to bite ya if ur in the water

but on the note of debate i believe its ok if its not just for one purpose if we use the animal for all needs rather than one then it wouldnt be a waste but i notice even the meat we get from most animals is wasted cause of peoples desire for food to look good rather than its nutriental value

most of the animal is laid to waste its a shame really when theres countries out there in desprete need for food we waste it cause we find it easy to

It sounds like a good idea but the properties for an good pelt and good meat are different. Usually an animal will be killed for its fur later in life when its coat is thick and its meat is no longer of much use, like in sheep and pigs which are killed young for better quaility and tasting meat. So the animal will be killed for its fur and its carcass will be waste. when you think of leather as in cow leather the quaility of the leather is usually down to is tanning treatment so its different from fur.

oh yeah great big sunbeds in factories they bring the cows in to give them a nice colourlaugh

First of all its Yupik or Inuit not eskimo that is considered an Ethnic slur. second there are much better man made fabrics availible for cold tempreture you dont see too many people climbing mount everest in furs do you.

The inuits and yupik kill animals themselves and make them into fur they are functional; there is a big difference between that and the world fur trade that keeps animals in small wire cages for months stacked together in inhumane conditions all for the sake of human vanity there is enough suffering in the world with out adding to it for fashion.

Even if the animals where fully domesticated and kept and killed humanly its still alot of killing just for clothes

But thats where i think i have double standards....if an animal is killed just for fashion I think its cruel..........but if its killed and used for meat and fur....Im not really againt it, but then at the end of the day the animal is still dead....so does it really matter if its meat was eaten?
