TheresMyFriend: How do you, or what do you do to persuade someone for something that you want?

I'm not sure if views from an outsider would be welcome in Alabama, however, there are different ways of persuasion and most of the time they do work. The best way is the honest way and a straight forward question but if you have a 'got feeling' you're going to get 'no' for an answer you may try the following:
Let's say you want something either 'big' or of some value. You start from asking for something small and unrelated. You presented it the way that would give an impression it's either a kind gesture of yours to ask for it, or that it's not a request but a favour on your part to ask for it. After you get of what has no value at all, you ask for something bigger. Again when you get it you proceed to ask for something you really want. If you got 20 times 'no' it's likely then when you ask for the 21 time guilt would make the person to cooperate. In other words you work from down there up.

The opposite way is working from way up down to what you want. For example you may ask a person to give you their car. Of course she/he is going to say 'no'. If your intention is to get a ride by the time when you ask for it, it seems so small in comparison to your original request, that's it's likely you're going to get it.

I'm leaving out the matter of is it purgation or manipulation for you to decide. However, the above are well known socio-technical ways used mostly by sales companies, layers in divorce cases, unions, etc.

I hope this is useful.

Thanks for your response. The question was for anyone...the Alabama section was a mistake...I ment to post in the International Forums.

The questions was more of a rhetorical type question, with a hint of humor inbeded. You did have a good response, and enjoyed reading your reply.

Hey, thanks.
I meant it to be humorous as well and I failed. My daughter used to say: mom don't bother to be funny, your sense of humour is what most of us consider to be either the most serious or weird.
cheers!cheers
