skinnyminnypink: Being brave putting this up now cos no one probably around but whatever ... recently made a mistake and posted something on a thread which I really didn't mean to, but was surprised that others on the site should have thought that I was innocent??? we make decisions and choices based on our perceptions of others and their way of communicating on this site, and sometimes, I wonder, are we too hasty? Do we disregard somebody because of how we feel they might be without giving them the benefit of the doubt or a chance to interact?? I'm not innocent or demure or virginal or whatever (nearly 50 and four children!!!! FFS) but did people see something else when they viewed my profile?

yes I think some people are too hasty and give people a hard time or ignore them because of what they THINK a person is like... which to me is wrong but hey thats just my little opinion

Most of what people read is their own stuff and not what is written. Projection and all that. Most people say they like a person with a good sense of humour and yet if you say something funny in a comment it is more often latched upon as a glib insult. Water off a ducks back Skinny. Ultimately it's their doodah not yours.

I can see how people would form an opinion about someone because of past posts and that one post would not chage that opinion. But I have noticed on these forums that a lot of people judge new posters without having previous posts to form an opinion. They automatically call them trolls, fakes, troublemakers and so on when the person has onlt posted a couple of times. dunno

Maybe I didn't explain clearly enough??? I was using my post as an example of people's perceptions of others ... but did not mean that people were forming false impressions of me .... in relation to fakes and trolls, they are there and they did cause a lot of unhappiness at a time .... but it's really a bit ridiculous when you can sit there and watch them fighting amongst themselves .... perceptions in general is what I meant and how we (as a group) form opinions of those who make contact with us, or post against us??? Have I lost you???? confused
