NewIn2010: I think the main reasons marriages and relationships break up are:

1. Respect
2. Communication

If the true meaning of respect is not understood (respect for self and respect for others) by both parties then it will never work. We are very poor communicators really. We're afraid to define what we want and what we expect from our partners for fear of losing them. If we don't define what we expect/want/need from our partners then how can we expect to provide it? People always say "but you knew" perhaps if we communicated more effectively then everything would be much clearer...

thank youhug

It's true.

...on the other hand, if we told people what we REALLY expect from them - most would run a mile! laugh

...but seriously though. thumbs up

do you think many marraiges and relationships fail
because one person or the other becomes stubborn
refuse to let go of a grudge and find it
hard to show forgiveness. could this play some part
in many separations and failed relationships.[/quote

delamer: I guess it's true - the truth hurts!

Stick to your guns. I am.

...the last fella for 3 yrs.? Is that a pity? Or are ya glad that didn't last?

Ah no, I'm glad... Another one of my beliefs is (wait for it... it's a Dr Phil moment!) Is that we all need to do "Relationship Autopsy's". It's only when we really look at the TRUTH and not just what we want to see that we can understand where it all went wrong... I'm actually friends with my ex and he's got a new girlfriend who seems much better suited to him...
So we're still buddies...
cheers

I tried being 'friends' with an ex once... never again! mumbling

I reckon we all think that we can 'read' people - especially at the start of a relationship. Trouble is when it goes on for a bit, only to turn out you were wrong in the first place?! dunno ...I hate that! sigh

Maybe the real problem lies in the fact that we feel we NEED someone to begin with... ?! dunno

I suppose one of the advantages of being a "independent woman" is that I can say to a man "I've got my own house, car, child so I'm with you because I WANT to be with you and not because I NEED to be with you"... Scares the crap out of them at first, the need doesn't come into it unless we lucky enough to have LOVE come into it...

Night, night guys and gals...

Edward, Bella, Jacob, Renesmee and all the gang are waiting for me to open the pages and continue their saga!!

sleep
