I understand you very much....being a mother is really not easy.....
I think the basic problem is your communication with your son is too less....how about try to communicate with him through emails or letters on paper...ask a person who he admire very much to guide him what should do at his age and what should not do....JMO
Don't be too upset....He will know your love sooner or later....

I'm not talking about gramps. It probably is too late for him, but not for your son. There is a way to get through to him, you just need to find it.
