rytcharlie: Germany won yesterday cos of a disallowed goal - I don't wanna go into game dynamics but maybe rather than shouting off so much you could try to find out what that means - Argentina will beat you and I can't wait as I, for one, am sick of your cheating nation.

Charlie, England lost yesterday because Cappo played the players out of position...and made basic tactical errors..When they need goals, he brings on Heskey!!!! When Crouch, who is a proven goal scorer at club and international level was left on the bench. He (Petey) would have been a headache for the german defence...

Stevie G isn't a left sided player...he's better in a more central role..JT was on the wrong side of the park....

Darren bent wasn't even on the plane..Theo Walcot didn't even get a look in..

And now the English FA have to either pay Cappo off to the tune of 12million greenbacks or keep him (means unless there is a radical over haul, new younger players)..

And as for Euro 2012 (forget it) and plan for 2014 with younger players...

Final point 4-4-2 doesn't work out side of the EPL...4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 works(and it's proven)...(jmo)

No Rooyney isn't over rated...With Man U..he's surrounded by other world class players..And Valencia and Nani are excellent crossers of the ball...He didn't get the service he was use to...

Why I think he 'didn't show'...(jmo)..He just became a daddy a few mths ago and probably misses his kid...

yeah true - I guess Fergie himself would look good if getting crosses from the likes of Valencia and Nani ...

Good points about team selection P, but Rooney not showing up cos of the kid? You may be right of course, but if that's the case then he would have known this beforehand and should have stepped down from selection! He would have known his mind was going to be distracted, especially a guy who spends alot of time away from home with his club. Somebody with full focus and determination should have gone instead, even if less talented.

He doesn't spend weeks away, plus I reckon the players missed their wags.

I agree

people are saying that he wasn't surrounded by world class players so he couldn't get a goal, but if he himself was world class that wouldn't matter - he'd make his own goals like Messi does.

I think if I was a talented football player and picked for England, it wouldnt matter where I was played or who I played with .. I'd play my heart out the whole match - Rooney didn't do that ..and to say it was cos he was thinking about his kid is a joke ..

he must have been so tired that he couldn't play properly .. so why didn't Cap do something about that?

but yet there must be a reason why our talented football players were beat by a team of German no-hopers who wouldnt even be worthy of playing in the same league in England - Kloser wouldn't get a game in the premiership. He'd struggle to play for the likes of Middlesborough or Notts Forest.

so why did it happen?

If you ever played any team plays: basket, volley, foot-, handball and the like, you would know of course that the team matters. In a team play it’s a team’s work that leads the team to victory... or to failure. There may be one or another star, but they are “fed” by the team. The team works for them, gets them into better position in a right moment. There are really very few stars in team plays that can manage on their own. Can’t mention any right now.

As to who is better... I don’t know anything about football, but I know enough about team play to say that Germans won over Englishmen because the German team as team is better than English, and it’s never is easier than that.

bottom line is that the effectiveness of a team comes from the willingness of each individual part of that team to play to maximum ability and show a willingness to work with the other componants of the team - and that wasn't happening. There's nothing magic about it .. it's 99% attitude .. you'd have a point if there were no crossers of the ball on the pitch .. but with Gerrard and Lampard, that was hardly the case .. or no defence - John Terry is an excellent defender .. or striker.. Rooney is top class - so all the componant parts that were there - save the goalie - were better than the German componant parts but failed to deliver .. whereas lesser componant parts - Kloser, Cacau and co did deliver - my question is why that was, rather than whether football is a team sport ..

Damn right too.... what about the others? They weren't playing with their team but they at least tried to do their best especially Gerrard !!!! So I guess Rooney is only good when he plays for Man U...... what a joke mumbling

Brazil - quarter finalists 2010 ... it doesn't quite ring true .. dunno

However, it restores my faith in the beautiful game a little that one of Ghana or Uruguay will be in the semi-finals .. and it'd be great to see an African team reach the final .. cheering
