Just got my "(Best Of) Trigger Happy TV" box set /dvd's

Have several tapes, houseing the whole (2) series & 2 Christmas Specials.

(Why they didn't release a 'complete series' on dvd I don't know).

An inspiring show...superb music.
(And women tell me they -love- Dom Jolly. "Lovely big cuddly guy, and he's funny!" [....Get eating guys! And watch more comedy.]

"HELLO!!!! I'm in an Art Gallery/in Holland/at a concert/at a movie!"
cool

Sorry to dispel that myth, Myth, but Dom Jolly leaves me cold and I really dislike his humour.

Ok, but we'll keep that to ourselves.

Anyone else?

One of my fave bits is the artist, who draws portraits of folk, by a fountain...but always writes something like "Goodbye Cruel World" or "I'm off" or "I've got to sing!" before walking away and throwing himself in a fountain, wandering off, or dancing around the square playing a guitar, singing...all this is in 'silent' as a meloncholy music track/song plays over it...

I know it's old now but I always like the "HELLO" into a massive mobile phone the best. The best one was on a small packed boat on a river, when he stood up and yelled "HELLO" and the driver almost jumped out of the boat. Oh and when he does it at places like museums where he implies that the person on the other end asks what it's like, because he says, "It's crap". Teeheehee. rolling on the floor laughing

I used to love it when he was interviewing people and always ran off, the tony blackburn one was hilarious, i wish they could make more of them i dont think it went on long enough.
Also liked it when he did the traffic warden bit at traffic lights, in fact the whole show was great, my sort of humour. banana

Whenever I do throw in one of the tapes; or since getting the "Best of" dvd box set (& I bought it pretty cheapo, online!)...yup, it seems just as current, and 'new' as it was a few years back.

It'll take a few years for the people on the street to look dated, but it'll always be classic coz it's playing on Human nature.

It's also a nice snapshot of UK culture; Dom wouldn't get quite the same reactions from folk in different countries.

I read on online review by someone (from Japan) I think, they had stayed in London, got to know London a bit and had seen Trigger Happy TV while they were there. Now Trigger Happy is like their postcard from London; they said something to the effect that the show captured the kindness, trusting, good natured side of UK folk who get kinda naively 'taken in' by Dom's pranks.

Dom's a real star, but the spotlight gets shared with people in the UK.
