So what was your first job and how much were you paid?
I recall my first job was when i was 11/12 working for my uncle who was a milkman and i was only paid £1-50 per hour , i did a lot of hours though.. Ahh memories

So what was yer first job? This should be interesting..

worked in a factory full time from the age of 13
got paid 50 pounds back then
oh and got the sack for swearing hows that for karma

I spent last weekend in Donegal at Harvey's Point. Beautiful place

First proper job was when I was 21 on holiday in Thailand,very innocent young Irish lad and didn't take long time,still not sure if it was a bloke or a girl.

Apprentice carpenter in Dublin. £2.12.6 @ week less £2 for accommodation,food and union fees. Lived in a hostel. 6 weeks later I was away to Manchester where I went to college. Now a Building inspector/manager when there's work available. ireland

My first job was a ast manager at a motoebike shop in london , I left Ireland when I was 15 and really enjoyed working there

First summer job . .shopfitter. .thought it was great at 16 to be put up in a hotel in Donegal . . .now before you all go getting ideas . .we used to work at night a lot cos some were refurb jobs and the shops used to stay open . .

Worked in the local D.I.Y on saturdays when i was 14, used to give me 15 pound a day, i absolutely loved that job and used to run down after school and help till 6 everyday and every summer aswell, then i was offered an apprenticeship when i was 16 and the rest is history grin

It's the same shop! I am just so so so sorry that it missed the boss. He was so smug with all the TV coverage that got. It was shown on news stations everywhere here and abroad.

working in dunnes stores.. part-time when i was in school... thursday, friday evenings and saturday mornings... i remember i would come out with 42 pounds...

then when dunnes went on strike and i was getting 50 pounds a week,,, obviously when the vote came around, i voted to stay on strike..hahaha

First job worked as a loungeboy in a pub when I was 15 on a Friday and Saturday night, IR2.20 per hour, used to fleece quite a bit of beer as welllaugh laugh

Eventually quit when one of the bar staff caught me in a pub 2 miles away when I said that I was sick, so it was a case of be fired or quit.

You worked full-time from the age of 13? Did you go to night school??? i was under the impression that it was illegal to finnish school before the age of 16. I guess not in Ireland dunno

At 11 years old I learned to Weld at a small local engineering works, spent from 5pm to 10pm each night after school for £1.50 per night welding up car trailers.

My first job was in a shop. Worked saturdays, sundays and any day I wasn't in school or college from age 12 to age 20 (when I started my current job). Wages started off at £6.00 a day when I started. By the time I left I was being paid £25.00 a day.
