I know it's easy to get swept away in the excitement of meeting someone new hun but after you get let down a few times or sometimes only after once ..... I find that I only invest a certain amount of myself to begin with, so that I don't end up with heart broken if the smoke clears and I find I have been dating a liar/cheat/idiot blah blah blah blah ......

Easier said than done in most cases I know......and this I ahve learnt the hard way too like most others on here but self preservation can be kept whilst dipping your toes into the dating scene pool hug teddybear

Personally I think you may be a victim of a particular type of man who does not like being alone. Some people decide while still in a relationship that it is not the one for them. Rather than doing the honourable thing and walking away they start on a new relationship before formally ending the previous one. The man in question may have no feelings left for the previous girl and may have feelings for you but his fear of having neither of you made him act in this way... JMO dunno

I know but it's very easy for people to talk the talk and if they are any way charming and know what you want to hear then they will lay it on thick of course.....however I would always guage people more on what they do....how they behave....rather than what they say......... TALK IS CHEAP sigh

Yeah thats an odd one alright... maybe he was telling the truth. I know a girl who left "in a relationship" up on her fb so that a couple of ex boyfriends who were also on fb wouldn't come sniffing around. And perhaps adding a total stranger as a friend does smack a little bit of bunny boilerism. LOL. A simple "i can't wait to see you tonight" on his wall would be equally effective...

laugh Yeah just a little maybe lol. Personally i'm probably a bit over cautious about who i add on fb. It's a lot more personal than the likes of here. My family, friends etc didn't ask for randomers i may chat to, to go snooping through their photos and stuff lol Although i do see the other side to adding someone you've just met online, it does give you a clearer insight. Depends what you're looking for online i guess conversing

Very true.
A lot of people don't realise just how "open" facebook is, personally I have a facebook account but only close friends and family have access. Its amazing what you can read into with FB, it is now common practice for prospective employers to vet everyone on FB, some of the things that turn up is amazing. Like here my FB account does not have a pic, that's a choice on my part to protect anonymity. If I think I know someone well enough then a pointer to a website with pics e.t.c may be the appropriate action I apply.
Just my personal opinion though.

You didnt say how long your seeing this guy but at the end of the day if she wasnt his gf then he shouldnt have made such a big deal about you adding her.. and as for him saying he wanted to look after you and your little one that alone would make me bolt...sounds like he was playing on you being nice and thought you were a damsel in distress JMO

You can control some of your info on facebook - only friends can see the stuff and the photos. You can limit the friends so that your friends can only see mutual friends. Had some non CS friends getting requests from CS people and they thought it odd!!
If someone looks for me on FB they can only see certain info until they are added as friends and even then you can control whats posted and seen.
