it cost me originally 750. repair quote was over €500, so suffice to say i didnt pay. had to buy a new one for €500, money i'd rather not have had to spend to be honest

Why won't you say which brand it is? If its really as crap as you say, why are you protecting this brand? If i wasnt happy with a particular brand id let as many people know as possible JMO dunno

hem23: ok thats a fair enough answer. I knew a guy that bought himself a brand-new Ferrarri, on the way home it broke down. So I guess even the best brands on the planet make faulty products from time to time.

brand-new Ferrarri, i don't believe ya, 300,000 4 themdoh

Godsgift: You mention a 5 year garuantee. Do you not have to pay extra for that? I always got the idea that the salesmen ( I suppose that means you ) were tring to screw a few extra quid out of me when they offered extended waranties!

All my audio and video stuff is SONY and has been since 1978 and I've always been happy with it. My stack system is 20 years old but still has a great sound though the cassette decks stopped working and you can't get parts any more!

normally you have to pay extra, sometimes the manufacturer offers it as a promotion. just over two years ago when i got my telly i got a one year guarantee i was told i could pay extra for more guarantee, but i declined, since normally Sony tellies last forever

what a balls!!
