I`m sure you all know the situation with jobs in this country and their availability, I won`t need to explain but anyway my point is that any vacant positions from now on should be given to Irish people who are unemployed, why should they be given to foreigners, aliens to this country??
Employers should be somewhat biased in favour of the Irish candidate and the foreigner should always come second, we need to look after our own,
Would you agree?

Lucky for all those Irish people who travelled to other countries to work and make a better life for themselves, that the countries they worked and settled in did not have this outlook.
Respect your opinion but I do not agree. handshake

No I would not, i am a foreigner living in Ireland and unemployed. I certainly wouldnt be very happy if i was passed over for a job for the simple reason i wasnt born here. I think your thread is ver narrow-minded and borderline rascist.

In harsh times like this you need to look after your own, I have nothing against foreigners and i`m all for a person working hard and bettering themselves, just in these times we need to look after our own first the everybody else comes second

Most of the jobs worked by foreigners in this county are low level jobs such as fast food work, deli work, cleaning etc.Its funny how times have changed,5 years ago Irish people wouldn't work those sort of jobs and now that the builders and professional people are out of work in this country they start to highlight and complain about the fact that foreign people are working and they are not.If jimmy the electrician or paddy the block layer were not so greedy during the boom, maybe there would be more work for them now.

Don,t take your anger out on foreigners because they want to make a living and have a decent life,we NEEDED them to sustain our economy a few years ago when The tiger was roaring. doh

Our own? Yeh for years that was the view of those in power in N.I 'our own' being a religious discrimination for jobs, housing etc. Sorry cannot agree with any discrimination for any reason I strongly believe in equity and equality for all. If we adapt to this view then we have no right to seek employment in another country thus restricting opportunities for our younger generation of which many study across the water and work part-time. Fair is fair if you take this stance it works both ways.

it all sounds great on paper but at the end of the day its not possible to do that every employer out there wud b leaving them selves open to lawsuits
as a mature student just out of college wit a degree i wud love that i cud just go and get a job and sure times i am mad that others are getting the jobs but at end of the day some are more educated than i am and are entitled to the job
also the fact that most of the foreigners work twice as hard as some of us irish u cant blame the employers for taking them on also the fact that they are willing to do jobs most of us wudnt even look at

i think its a shame that we have to put everyone down in this day and age foreigner or irish alike

Where i work a few years ago no way would an Irish person do the job that i do. It was beneath them with their fancy degree and they just out of college. Its a different story now though.
