You'll have to be a bit specific.

Am I a lier when I try to be brave in front of my kids in a crisis because I want them to not panic?

Humans generally pretend to be what they're not all the time. In a job interview, you try to be perfect (we all know that no one is perfect).

Trying to make a good first impression, so you don't mention the fact that you like to do something weird like jump out of airplanes or climb buildings without ropes.

Lying is different though, decieving someone in a deliberate manner through inferrence or otherwise.

The latter, I think we can all agree sucks!

Pretending to be single when you're married or in a relationship.

So what's the context?

I ment as in you may be getting to know a person through this and get on well enough and when you meet up they are a totaly person then described. Not just physically but also personality wise.

Perhaps the person described themselves as they see themselves, if you get what I mean.

Well, they obviously wanted to get to know you and were frightened that if they showed you their real selves they would scare you off.

How where they different? To what extremes did they go?

I guess if you're on here ladies and gentlemen and you want more than a wham-bam-thank-you-mam then you have to be yourself or you'll soon be caught out.

I try to be myself tbh. It's better for everyone involved.

A lot of people dont know themselves. They describe themselves as they would like to be, not as they are but when you meet them they cant hide the truth. I do think, though, that most people do TRY to be honest but it doesnt always work out.

The only thing I can say about it is that, if someone has the ambition to be a hero, then when the time comes they might actually try to be a hero. Doesnt mean it will work out but treated kindly, they might succeed. sad flower
