Starting today we start a new book reading challenge: To see who can read 50 books in one year.

I have just finished Stieg Larssons 2nd book The Girl Who Played With Fire and am currently reading Co-Dependant No More by Melody Beattie for my course, which will be my first book in the new challenge.

Anyone interested?

wave do I really have to count them though? laugh

ok ok...

1. Sam Bourne The Chosen One.... Moderate thriller about American paranoia and govt conspiracy! Very readable and easy going with few twists and hardly any surprises so far (half way through).

I'd certainly be up for the challenge but not sure my usual picks would feature in the group listing - am a MAJOR! fan of Jodi Picoult - a totally amazing author and the depth in her books is astonishing - always grab them as soon as they are out and devour them in a single day then wait months and months for the next - so will certainly keep up with this thread and see what good reads everyone is suggesting! And will certainly keep track of my book intake aswell as I'm quite a junkie for books it might be a daunting task but will certainly try to! hehe! laugh

wave Happy Sunday to you all wave

where are all the readers? Hope you are not all out busy dating? laugh laugh

I absolutely LOVE the smell of new books, so treated myself to 3 yesterday...

Marina Lewycka "we are all made of glue"....started this one and it is just delightful (She wrote Tractors in the Ukraine too). You immediately feel you know and love the characters. Lovely story of a women in London who befriends an elderly lady neighbour. The lady is completely eccentric with a wonderful wicked past grin This book is to be savoured!

also bought Sophie Hannah "A room swept white".... sort of a murder thriller from what I read on the back, but a little different too.... will keep this for my holidays as I like a bit of murder and mayhem in the sun laugh

The 3rd book is not for sharing blushing wave wave wave

If you haven't already read it.... "A Season of Weddings" by June Levine might be worth a read... I read it years ago..... & it still sticks in my mind...

Ahh C'mon now you GOTTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! share the 3rd book!!! you can't say it like that and not share it!! lol C'mon we wont tell its not like its a public internet forum or something!!!
Don't leave us in suspense like that!!!! lol

Yeah I believe you would like the "made of glue" book....it takes me about a week to read a really good book....mind you, I only read at bedtime ... ahhhh the advantage of the single life lol I must remember this when asked again grin

ok the 3rd book blushing (now I really do not buy these!) it is called "why French women don't sleep alone" by Jamie Cat Callan. grin hug

Orla2010: I'm with you on the smell of new books .... my idea of Heaven is an afternoon in Waterstones with some money in my pocket

I try and read a book a week. Depends on what's happening. Sometimes it could be more. I'm probably Amazon's best customer in Ireland

Would you believe I was going to buy the Marina Lewycka one on Thursday evening! I went I love the other two, especially 'Two Caravans'. I would probably read more non-fiction ... I love travel books. My favourites are "Congo Journey" by Redmond O'Hanlon and "In Patagonia" by Bruce Chatwin.

My Mum is in a book club so I steal a lot of things from her reading list too

I'll defo have to check out Marina Lewycka now - 2 recommendations in a row - always find that hard to resist! I just picked up a Penny Vincenzi yesterday and its gotten me totally enthralled now its called 'The Best of Times' - picked up a few of hers before but the back blurb didn't catch me so didn't really bother with them - 'Best of Times' came with a few recommendations - and its actually wonderful - quite a long one aswell so should see me through a few days at least! laugh
