I was just reading an article about this and half the parents surveyed said they would send their kids to school

Some Parents made the point single people dont understand and become annoyed as it increases their work load..Others said they had to as they couldnt afford a day off .

Myself ..Yes i do when they have a wee cough or sniffle ...but not if their very poorly ...

What do you do ..Honestly

I deep them at home if they are properly sick with a temperature, but I do send them off to school with a bit of a sniffle or a tickly cough.

Same as myself Misus Libra ...

I meant to add that the Parents who say the singletons get annoyed due to extra work loads feel they have to go into work rather than stay at home with the kids...

Children who are sick should not be in school, its unfair on them as well as the teachers and other children in the class.

A bit of a sniffle and I would send them to school, but if they are sick I wouldnt send them.

Just reading some more on the article....

It says that Nursery children who are sick seem to be sent in more than older school kids as Parents are paying for this service and are not refunded if a child is missing .

It also noted one Mother saying it interferes with my social life dunno when told off by another Mother doh

I used to help out in the local playschool and on more than one occasion children that were obviously sick were left in with us. Parents got very annoyed if they were asked to take the children home and on a few occasions parents couldnt be contacted, mobiles turned off, but would simply reappear to collect the child at the end of the day.

I have that problem with my older teenager. She absolutely refuses to go to school some days because she 'doesn't feel well'. No amount of cajoling, persuading, or sometimes shouting can get her out into school. Short of dragging her out of the bed, dressing her myself, pushing her down the stairs and out into the car and then walking her into her classroom would get her to go, and she's as big as me. Therefore she does miss school for a sniffle and a tickly cough and minor things that the younger ones wouldn't

Godsgift: We were the same! My dad was a policeman! You'd need a death certificate to get a day off school! And even then, you'd be told, if you're well enough to go to the doctor.....

I have actually phoned him on those 'difficult' mornings to assist... he lives 5 mins away and is still an early riser... 2 mins chat with her and she's changed her mind, most of the time.

How very devious of megiggle

Male influence or not, from what I've seen, I'd say you manage pretty well! And if dad's happy to play the bad cop, well why give yourself grief!bouquet

Mine have all tried that, I find the option of being locked in their room for the day, after I remove mobile, tv and laptop does the trick.

I think however the point about nursery children is more about the fact that parents have to pay for that service and wont keep the child home as they still have to pay.

Same as yourself I would not send them, it is not fair, I am very conscious also that my youngest gets the same treatment as her older siblings got when there was 2 parents in the house.

So true my dad's sorting my youngest out in the morning and collecting her to let me off to uni in Belfast, would be lost without family help. thumbs up

Sounds great but sadly my family make the Adams Family look functional. I didn't move across the Irish Sea for no reason! If one of my family offer to help you, check your pockets before they leave!laugh

I like to think that most singletons have empthaty and understand at some stage we'll get sick & unlikely to work, it happens to the best of us,whether it be minding sick children or ourselves there are times we are just not able to go to work
