Ross30: Gilmore is worse he'd been jumping on the know nothing populist bandwagon for the last two years and a lot of Irish people have been falling for the nonsense that Gilmore been coming out, Gilmore and his pain free solution, I can't believe people believe in such rubbish. Gilmore would be even worse than Cowen or Kenny.

I think the following could have a pretty decent chance of happening:

A tough budget (which there simply has to be) leads to the Government falling
FG and Labour lead a minority Government which stutters through disaster after disaster when people realise that Kenny and Gilmore are populist, rabble rousing muppets
FF with Lenihan as leader win the next election (or get enough seats to make a coalition, but you know what I mean by win!)

Sure Enda has a 10 year plan to fix the economylaugh and Gilmore with his insprational rethoric will get the economy moving again into the arms of the EU/IMF with his spend, spend, spend mantra.

Also Gilmore has a very easy time in the media, he doesn't like to talk about his commie past in the Workers Party, it's quite an embarrassing subject for Gilmore given the fact that he was in a party that was openely supportive of Eastern European communist dictatorships in the 1980's, he should be ashamed of himself for espusing such extreme views from the 70's till the early 90's.

Irish people are notoriously gullible, they'll fall for any rabble rousing populist.

Who would replace Cowen and wants to lead FF into an election that they'll be hammered out of site in.

I think the backbenchers are worried about losing their jobs. They think that what little chance they may have of retaining them fades into nothing with Cowen in charge. Remember these guys are angry and frustrated too! The gravy train has stopped.

I just don't see the Bold Brian riding this one out.
