I explained the difference between Dutch and Flemish.. There is NO difference, its exactly the same, although they been considered as two different languages..Why? I don't have a clue!
Thats the translation
ahhh...what a precious piece of information! thanks to you serpenta! i will certainly remember that when i am talking to a dutch and flemish to show them how smart i really am
mnowsa: I have always been fascinated and intrigued by the idea of learning as many languages as possible in my entire life time. I am sure, just like me, many of us feel the same way as i do. I would love to hear from my fellow CS members about how many languages they are familiar with in general. It would be just awesome if they tell us which language they find easy to learn and which they don't find so easy. And while we are exploring the colorful and exciting world of languages, we would just love to hear some good things/great quotes from different languages. So, shall we please proceed?
I can read, write, speak and understand only English, Spanish and Italian.
Indeed, Greek is quite complex to me not to mention other languages.
yes, greek indeed is very difficult to learn...but my understanding is italian and spanish are little less complicated when comparing them with german or greek. then again, i could be wrong too...
mnowsa: so what are those 5/6 languages that u can understand? u mean u can understand like " hello/ how are u?fine..thank u" kinda thing?
well, if for you understanding a language means exchanging greetings and salutations then i have to correct my previous statement and say i can also understand any language...it is not a big deal to be able to say a few common set phrases... for understanding i mean to communicate what i want to say not what i am able to say.
Well I speak Maltese (my language), english, italian, i can read french and understand it but I forgot how to speak it or at least I find it rather difficult, and the same with spanish
