lifeisadream: Had I the opportunity to learn German I would. Here I did enroll to the State University for German but the teacher was so slow that I got bored and quit it.
University costs in Mexico are rather inexpensive. For the language course would be something like 120 US dollars a year for outsiders and much less to current students and it takes about 2 yr to complete one language.
For a person to keep proficiency in a language you have to constantly use it and somebody that you can practice it. I have had the opportunity to live in other countries and I was always surrounded by English speakers that I could never learn the local language. The only reason I speak Spanish is to communicate with my family. For dealing Engineering with English is much better to use. Is a language that's straight forward. When I was trying to learn Japanese I was having because the logic of the language was backwards English or Spanish, that I would end up confused. And now I'm having similar problem with German.

i do agree with the fact that you have to use it constantly to stay on top it. I had a very good grasp of greek, but i must say i forgot a lot of it because i didn't have the opportunity to practice it.
I explained the difference between Dutch and Flemish.. There is NO difference, its exactly the same, although they been considered as two different languages..Why? I don't have a clue!
