Just a thought, i spend a lot of time in Svenska and i just drifted into that Q. I think there is a lot of Nordic heritage in Scotland, and they are very close to Scandinavia.... A Scottish opinion would be great :)

If you try to look it up you will find a dizzying array of forensic anthropology and muddled history and none of it makes sense. But, if you can see it in people's faces and customs and the way they talk, you don't need Thor Heyerdahl to explain it to you. I'll give you a hint. Google Scotish Pagan Burial sites and glyphs. Then Google Viking pagan burial sites and glyphs. Try words like cairn, fairy mound, barrow, monolith, celtic, etc. Or read Kon Tiki and apply the same logic to the Scots that Heyerdahl applied to the islanders. Look up ancient Scotish carvings, art and gold and compare it to the same ancient viking stuff. Now you have me wanting to do that.

Thats fantastic stuff right there, and also look for Runes. Its a Nordic form of writing, fascinating. It is in Scotland as well as Iceland, and mainland Csandinavia!

There were Nordic / Viking / Dane settlements throughout England and Scotland from The Orkneys to East Anglia (Angles). Some words - Fell, Dale, etc are of Nordic origin as are some place names. Edward Ist had a campaign of genocide against the Danes living here.
But there was no dominance - the Celts were the predominant culture in Scotland at the time of The Vikings.
