If, for instance people are saying things about someone, and everyone shuns them, then they can be deeply hurt without knowing why.
All they will know is that people want to avoid them, or hurt them physically, because of something they don't know that someone is saying about them.
Ignorance is not bliss, and what you don't know can hurt you.
I agree. If you think about the example of the affair used by a few posters... Even before you know, your instincts tell you something is wrong and there is a rift in your relationship. You may not know WHY, but it still hurts. It hasn't happened to me personally, but it has to a few of my friends.
