To the families, friends, and relations of the men of the Pike mining disaster.

I feel such deep sorrow and sadness for the tragedy that has hit our Country.
These men could so easily have been our Sons, husbands, Dads and relatives. I thank God I do not have a relative connected to this very sad occasion.
I cry for these poor men. We are a Country in sadness.
So many questions to be answered. Their bodies may never be recovered. So incredibly sad. Words cannot express our nationwide grief.

Thank you so much Celibate for starting the story of a black day in New Zealands history. I have been praying everyday for a miracle and the news today is just simply devastating. My heart goes out to all the families and to the amazing ceo of Pike River, Peter for explaining everything so well. As a former crash investigator and rescuer of people, i can understand the frustration of not being able to go in and get these men out. Please everyone thats reading, pray that the levels of methane and carbon monozide will drop rapidly so that the families may have some closure. Once again, we have had traumatic events in the South Island and everyone is supporting each other. My only disappointment is the invasiveness of the media showing grieving family members who should be given some privacy whilst they process the tragic outcome of today.

I truly agree with our about the CEO peter. He was the most real person to speak through this entire horrible event.
Those men and boys need to be brought out to their families now and i hope and pray that they will be. There is alot of anger across the board, whether deserved or not. I wonder why the Police had so much to say on the subject.
Someone needs to go in and get them and bring them home. Dont let them stay there forever.
