Why do people stuff themselves silly at Christmas time?. We have food in abundance 365 days of the year and people still make Pigs of themselves at Christmas Time. Now I am not religious but as far as Christians go we believe that this time is centred around the Birth of Jesus. A time for children that has been hi-jacked by Grown-up people.
My favourite day of the year is the 1st of January. I keep hoping the human race will improve with the coming of a New Year.
Enjoy your Christmas but spare a Thought for the the real meaning.

I agree Christmas, like many occasions has been comercialized for profit... The true meaning is forgotten.
I do love the family get together, Its good people take time out and relax...
god ye are all very sensible ... christmas is the one time of year where i let my self go :) because i can! i work hard all year round dont see much of my family and friends and it the one time where I can drink and eat share food with family. I never really got the whole suprise birthday party for jesus he never showed up to any of our parties and seeing as he wasnt actually born on that day seems a little silly.
Xmas for me is a few days where everything stops and its just about those you love We cook huge amounts of food because its a way of putting time effort and love in to something for those special people and it is a sign of respect and being thankful that you have the pleasure of having the meal.

Cork must be the only place where everything stops. Must be automated. Thousaands of people work over the Christmas. Hospitals..Nursing Homes etc etc.. We should all move to Cork

I work in a hospital and I am off. but the following i maybe working we all swap just like the nurses and the staff in nursing homes (kinda worried these are the only members of staff you could think of) so the fact we all have to work at Christmas would this not give us a even bigger reason to go all out at Christmas time?
