MovinFWD: Considering it to help improve some areas in my life. Has anyone here received hypnosis before? and did it help?
Anyone one else considered it? skeptical?
Just want your takes on the subject. Thanks!
A friend of mine is a hypnotherapist & he has had some great reviews from his clients who have lost weight / stopped smoking etc. However he once 'hypnotised' me to try to make me play better golf & i went a shot one of my worst ever rounds the next day so doesn't work for us all

It sounds like a quick and easy fix doesn't it but perhaps the lazy way out, unless you have tried all other methods of self help and discipline first of course.
I knew a teacher who was hypnotised to stop smoking. He woke up and could not stop laughing, non-stop. He had to go back and have it reversed or something and is still smoking, to this day.
Between 1000 BC and 500 BC, the Indians of the Peruvian Amazon experienced mix vines and leaves to create a beverage. Taste bitter and strong, the final infusion is now used by the leaders during religious rituals, making them feel able to contact the dead and promote healing. Called ayahuasca, which in Quechua (spoken in the central Andes) means "vine of souls," she is popularly known today as Santo Daime. After at least 2500 years of its invention, the tea retains the aura of religion (and controversy) of its use.The kind of preparation is still basically the same, But there's a catch: while being consumed by 70 different indigenous peoples and to be widespread throughout South America, ayahuasca is famous for its hallucinogenic effects. In Brazil, it is consumed by 40 000 people divided into four major sects: Santo Daime, Uniao do Vegetal, Divine Nature and Barquinha. I already went to the União dos Vegetais, in Goiania but unfortunately I did not want to throw up and before to drink the tea I took medicine, tea had no effect. It is not open to the public and can only go if invited by a member of the brotherhood. Few people know what is the tea of the dead here in Brasi. I think to go back there on July. If you google AYAHUASCA you will see that it easier to have the tea in the USA, Europe than here.
Another thing, in recent decades the beverage was widespread among intellectuals and artists and their use is being researched as a tool for the treatment of some mental problems and drug addiction
