We sit down a read the newspapers or watch the news, we get media cover on the net, we read it and see it everyday.I have got to the stage where i think the media has a lot to answer for, by the way they twist and turn a story to suit themselves, they seem to choose anyone or anything and turn it into a drama, they seem to forget that their are many people hurting in Australia at the moment, yet the carry on about how we pay for the damage caused by floods, Cyclones and Bush Fires. and to make a huge political fight over it they are just not thinking of the people who were involved in these tragic events, surely all Australians would prefer that its time for helping and doing something good for all these people, we should not ever have to debate this, we are Australians who are known to be fighters and strong in will and mind, and if the media think by selling newspapers or getting ratings for their coverage of these events they should think again. The media are just beating their drum and really do they care . i don,t think. and remember this is just my opinion.

hellosailor: Iknow what you mean, but it has been a circus with the media and our politicians, what i am trying to say, give us some action, and lets really help these people, or as they say, cut the Bulls-----t and lets do it, one way or the other.

yeah the media certainly has a lot to answer for.. and I personally dont believe 95% of what they CHOOSE to tell us because they will only impart the info THEY want us to hear based on which way they are politically aligned .. hence why I rarely read newspapers or watch the news these days..so I usually only catch snippets on the radio in the car so I am not quite sure of what is going on with regards to the circus your talking about sailor girl but I can IMAGINE it would be bad based on prior experience

not sure what the answer is tho.. because without the media.. there would be less accountibility and the politicians would get away with so much more than they do because we wouldnt hear or read about it dunno

need to find a happy medium maybe dunno

Re the media.........Many years ago i dated a journo from a leading Melbourne newspaper. They all drank at the Mitre Tavern in the city. After a few afternoon beer they would go back to the office and type up what was to be printed for the morning papers. The pressure was enormous from bosses to perform and we all know the truth is often only a small part of the story. I would have stayed at the pub.boogie cheers

Its sad really, i felt inclined to use my credit card to donate to the guy whose yacht sank in the Brisbane river.
The suggestion to donate to the mayor of Brisbane fund really me put me off. He popped up on the news stating he needed (not sure whether it was) 4 million or forty million to put back the Brisbane river walk-way. I find his projects and constant media babbling a deeply offensive. And listening to recent news the Brisbane mayors slush fund is being used to rebuild public infrastructure.
Though saying that i understand a lot has been used for taking away the rubbish and other useful activities of Brisbane council, but pumping out his tunnels and fixing toll ways and the cosmetic yuppy walk-way...

Politicians seem to think there grand plans and health advice constitutes news, i don't. They are there to carry out the wishes of the electors, not dictate to there bosses, the electors.
