I am going on a date Friday. I am so nervous, it has been a long time since I have been on a date.

I have been chatting with this gentleman for some time now, we have spoke on the phone & last night we used the web cameras to speak face to face!! But even so, I am still nervous!!

We are going to meet at a KFC & have a meal to start with on Fri. Then it is all up to what we feel like afterwards. I honestly fear the fact that when we meet fact to face things will go sour. blues

I know that this gentleman & I seem to have a few things in common. And we only live about 50 miles apart, so meeting up is not a real problem.

I look forward to hearing from him each day. We talk about nothing important, just how our day has been. It seems everything is on the up & up with him. And I have been quite honest with him as well. I guess it just seems too good & it scares me.

Well we will know in a few days if there is any chemistry between us or not. hug

Is it normal to be so nervous? confused

Ya for sure first dates can be very nervous..Just try to relax, put on some nice clothes that are not too revealing and remember first impressions are important..
If your dining out, make sure to be polite and have decent table manners.. lol..

Hey W wave

We still talk but live about 130 miles apart. Not far in US terms but it's a long way in England so isn't really feasible to get into anything serious as we wouldn't be able to see each other more than about once every 2 weeks & she doesn't drive either so difficult. Sure we will meet up again soon though wine

lol..Well if it is a first date I wouldnt recommend ordering finger food.. lol
Or anything real messy..As far as clothes go, just something pretty and unrevealing..That is if you want your date to be kinda impressed..If your not so happy with him then I suppose ordering ribs, spaghetti or finger foods is ok.. lol
Table manners in the effect of using a napkin, not slurping your food, talking with a mouth full of food, ect.
I've been reading paige parkers dating advise on what men think of first impressions and took this for myself.
I had no idea men look at all these things.
I made a mistake and ordered ribs once on a first date and realized later he was in the Jewish religion..lol
Most of them dont eat pork.. lolol..
My mistake for sure ordering that while dinning out with him..Also it was messy and had to use my napkin a lot..laugh

May be but some guys enjoy watching a woman enjoy her food. I think that table manners etiquette might be important in a posh restaurant but at KFC? doh If you pretend to have table manners you don't usually apply the rest of the time, you'll be stuck with having to "act" for the rest of your meals together. Atificial acting only means you might end up with someone who're not well matched with.

I say enjoy your food, enjoy your date. Be who you are and enjoy being who you are.

Kentucky Fried Chicken is a buffet & it is the best in the area. He chose the meeting place, so I think it is safe to say he likes the food there.

Both of us are just small town folks, nothing fancy about either one of us. So I am thinking jeans & nice shirt will work.

I know first impressions are important. The face to face meeting on the computer with the web cameras went well. So we are half way there on the impressions part.

I don't plan on "acting" for anyone. I am good at being me, so why try to be anything else??

The best manners I can think of for a KFC is to not lick my fingers after I eat my chicken!! rolling on the floor laughing

My case of nerves will probably be there for the first part of the date. It seems that is normal.....

I see what you are saying but I do have good table manners..The only mistake I made once was ordering ribs on a first date in a "regular" sit down restaurant..It wasnt posh but it also wasnt a fast food place.
Also the guy was in the Jewish religion and I didnt know he doesnt eat pork..lol
Being raised by a catholic mother I was clueless about his religion..lol
Ya I realize now the op is going to kfc so of course finger food would be what the guy is expecting. lol
