We hear this said all the time when rejection happens,but is it really their loss??Obviously if they rejected us then they never wanted us therefore it's not their loss.
Seems more like it would be the other persons gain since they don't have to deal with a person with such an impossibly big ego that they believe another person is losing out by not wanting to be with them.

Yeah I always thought of it as a cliche to make the person saying it feel better

Interesting take and has some valid points. Coming from a person trying to console the one just left it may be a valid and true statement. Coming from the person left it does ring of arrogance. Made me think a little thanks.

Instead of "it's their loss",we should say to ourselves "better luck next time".
You know that old saying of "one mans trash is another mans treasure",well it sort of applies to people as well.NO!I am not calling anyone trash,just that the right person will treasure us.
