Life is too short to not enjoy the simplicity that life can offer. Sounds like you need balance in your life. Also, try enjoying your job..makes it less like work.

I think success is an individual thing. We each have our own measure for it. Being successful in life certainly contributes to a feeling of accomplishment and well being. However, for me its only one aspect of my life that I go by. Inner happiness is exactly that, it comes from within. Not outward material things.

Happiness is emotion related while success relates to the material world; neither is dependant upon the other. However (IMHO), it is easier & more natural to be happy while you have to work hard to be successful.
There is a saying (Eastern), which translates into "If you are calm, contented within (mind, soul), then that will very quickly transfer to the outer, personality, countenance, etc. When your spirit is then happy, it will guide you onto paths of success!
At least, that's what my shrink told me! Hehe.
