Well... it all depends who is sitting next to you or someone looking at you. Otherwise you could watch a movie at your laptop provided you have brought it along with you, either that go shopping instead 
i tend to watch people sometimes it better than tv or i strike up a conversation but airports are lonely places 
I go rampant in the shops - what else is there to do? 
very little it would be nice if there was more to see and do but what
I just bring books along and read at the airport and on the flights. I enjoy being alone in a crowded place and watching people without feeling obligated to get involved. I also find people very needy to unload their emotional baggage on me because I am a considerate listener who can't detach once engaged in conversation.

Ohhhh! I forgot one snippet of interest here in my travel agenda..... maybe someone out there will appreciate it.Once, I had a trip with a short stop at Dubai .... so I`m sitting in this miniscule smoking room, dressed like a dirty hippy, where the air-con is not working, rolling a joint (hand-made cigarette.. more healthy than ready rolled bought ones full of dried sugar and things), and decided to clear my stuffed-up nose with a sniff of menthol snuff. So I carefully, after rolling the joint, tap out the snuff on my hand in that area where you tap out snuff... between your thumb and first finger....take a sniff up each nostril... and raise my eyes... to see a queu of people watching me..... I just knew what they were thinking.... "She`s sniffing Cocaine", some of them shook their heads at me. But at least no-one called the Arab cops.

Ye gads, theres another female in Switzerland! Now there are two females here..... arent the men here soooo lucky? Actually, sometimes I believe I am the only person living in CH, wait till the snow starts, then I will truly be the only person here.... There are some other people, I see them buying bread, and sometimes I see a farmer on a tractor cutting grass for his cows.... and most times I think they just a mirage... you know? that image one sees in the desert? when you dying of thirst and think you see water?
Usually i just site down and read a book.

I sort of blow with the wind... some days I want to meet someone... and some days I just do my work. I find airports dismal places- they lack life. And since I am not much for shopping, I feel like I am being forced to shop, which actually pisses me off.
I think if I had the chance to design an airport I would put in a gym and perhaps a yoga room for myself. For those less interested in that kind of thing I'd add swimming pools, trampolines, slides... i dont know I might even throw in some clowns just to make people laugh.
